When booking a disneycruise, how do I use my Disney vacation club points to pay it?

Ahoy Chingting, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Disney Vacation Club landlubber like yourself, I sometimes channel my inner Moana and hear the seas call me. We’ve done a couple Disney Cruises over the last couple of years, including a DVC Member Cruise on the Disney Wish (which I highly recommend if you get the opportunity!). Now, let’s dive into your question!

In order to use your DVC Vacation Points towards a Disney cruise, you would have to exchange them for the Disney Collection. The Disney Collection is a set of Disney Resort hotels and Experiences, such as Disney Cruises and Adventures by Disney. To get things started, you’ll want to choose the ship and itinerary you’re interested in and locate the point chart for the sailing you’re interested in. You’ll find the point charts for available sailings here. Note that the point values are on a per person basis based on double occupancy. If your travel party has more than 2 people, you’ll find the additional points needed based on the stateroom category type at the bottom of the point chart. You’ll need to contact Member Services to complete the booking.

Chingting, here are a couple reminders about using Vacation Points towards a Disney Cruise. First, you have to be eligible for Membership Extras in order to exchange your Vacation Points towards a Cruise. Next, there is generally a fee associated with these types of exchanges (unless of course you’re enrolled in the Membership Magic Beyond program, which waives the transaction fee!). Finally, the Rule of Four applies to these types of exchanges, which basically means that for bookings within your current Use Year, you must make the reservation prior to the last 4 months of your Use Year.

Here’s a bonus tip! DVC is offering some select DCL itineraries that are designed to stretch your points further. These sailings are for the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder in fall 2026 and spring 2027. To view them, click on this link and scroll down to where it says “Take Your Points Further!”.

Chingting, I hope this info is helpful for you as you consider sailing aboard a Disney Cruise using your Vacation Points. If you have any further questions about getting the most out of your DVC membership, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!

    Your pal,
