I just booked (for me and my 9 year old son) a 7 night Bahamas cruise Thanksgiving week on the Disney Wonder departing from Galveston. What kind of crowd should we expect on the ship during this time? Is Thanksgiving considered a peak time to cruise?

    Ahoy, Katherine!

Congratulations on booking a cruise that is so close! Since you are sailing on the Disney Wonder, which is one of the smaller of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, you should not ever truly feel crowded. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder can accommodate a maximum of 2,700 passengers, where the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream can carry 4,000 passengers! That is a huge difference!

When our family has cruised on the Disney Magic, the Wonder's sister ship, we have never felt that the ship was crowded. In fact, on a 7-Night cruise, you will most likely start to recognize many of your fellow passengers.

Celebrating Thanksgiving onboard the Wonder should be fantastic! You are also in luck that the "Very Merrytime Cruise" decorations will be up, so you can get a jump on celebrating the winter holidays as well. One of my favorite things about the holiday cruises is the giant gingerbread house that will be constructed in the atrium. This is scheduled to be complete during the last week of November.

I hope you have a WONDERful time sailing during Thanksgiving! Please visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions that arise before you set sail.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
