We just booked our vacation in Nov with the free dining plan. My daughter will be 10 so she is on the adult plan. I'm know there will be times when she would rather order from the children's menu or get an appetizer instead of an adult entree - can she?

    Hi Carlo,

I hope you have a great vacation in November. Walt Disney World will start making the transformation to the winter holidays which is very magical to witness.

One of the reasons I do not like the Disney Dining Plan is for the reason you noted. Once a child becomes an "adult" for dining, they are limited to the adult menu when on the plan. Since you are paying an adult price for the ticket, Disney wants to give you an adult meal.

However, there are some younger children who prefer a child's meal over an adult meal at certain restaurants. I know my own daughter likes the children's menu and she is 15.

You may get a sympathetic server who may make an adjustment for you but it is not guaranteed. One suggestion would be to look at the restaurant's menu in advance with your daughter. Perhaps you can help her "deconstruct" a particular meal. For example, lets say she likes steak but does not like it with mushroom gravy. You could have her order it plain. We do this with our daughters and chef's will accommodate this request.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
