Just booked our trip to WDW in Nov. When on the phone the guy asked who my daughters fav character is and its Minnie. Told me I had to go to Cape May Cafe but we were planning on Chef Mickey to see Minnie. Which is better if we cant do both? Thanks

Hi Kristen! Minnie is my daughter's favorite character too! I can't tell you how many Minnie t-shirts she owns!

We've dined at both the Cape May Cafe character breakfast and Chef Mickey's, and we enjoyed both of them. At Chef Mickey's you'll usually see Minnie, as well as friends such as Mickey, Goofy and Pluto. The restaurant is big and busy with a festive atmosphere. Periodically through the meal the characters will dance around the restaurant while everyone twirls napkins over their heads. The breakfast buffet has the standard fare, along with some unique items such as Goofy's Vegetable Lasagna and Rice Krispie Treats. Personally, I think the food on the breakfast buffet is tastier than the dinner one, and it's a little less expensive too, so that's usually our meal of choice there.

The breakfast buffet at the Cape May Cafe is usually much quieter and less crowded than Chef Mickey's. In fact, on several occasions, the restaurant has been so uncrowded on my visits that the characters stopped by our table multiple times! The buffet is not quite as large as Chef Mickey's, but it has all the usual breakfast favorites, and the dishes are hot and tasty.

You can't go wrong with either Chef Mickey's or the Cape May. If you're looking for lots of quality character interaction and a relaxed atmosphere, you might want to choose Cape May. If you're celebrating a special occasion, you might prefer the celebratory atmosphere of Chef Mickey's. I often make my decisions on where to dine based on what's most convenient. If I'm staying in one of the resorts near the Contemporary or if I'm visiting the Magic Kingdom that day, I'll choose Chef Mickey's. If I'm staying at or near the Yacht and Beach Club or if I'm planning to visit Epcot or Hollywood Studios that day, I'll pick Cape May.

Hope you have a magical vacation! Come see me again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions, Kristen!
