Booked a trip for 9/9-9/15 @ POR but now second guessing hotel choice. 2 adults 2 kids - DS5 & DD1. Considering pirate room @ CBR. Stayed @ Poly last time. Is it worth extra $1500 for larger room/ease of transportation back to room for breaks/naps @ Po

    Hi Krystal!

I stayed at Caribbean Beach when I was at Walt Disney World in February and we had a pirate room. The look on my two kid's faces was priceless when they opened the door and saw the room. They ran from the treasure chest dresser to the barrel fridge to the gold coin mattress to the skull and bones curtain, squealing with each successive finding. They loved sleeping in the pirate ship beds. I have a great picture of them sword fighting on top of the bed at the end of the day with the look of pure joy on their face. My son happened to be really into Pirates of Caribbean at the time, so the resort was a perfect choice for us.

I think that your five year old son would really get a kick out of the theming at Caribbean Beach (CBR.) He would also love the pirate themed splash area and huge pool. The resort is only about 15 minutes away from the park, so it's not too bad to go back in the middle of the day for naps.

I also toured Port Orleans in December and it is a beautiful resort as well. They even have a boat that will take you from POR to Downtown Disney. The Royal Princess Rooms are enchanting! But, your son may enjoy the pirate theming more than the princess theme.

Polynesian is a beautiful resort and you can't beat the convenience of the resort to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Of course, Polynesian is a Deluxe Resort, so it is a bit more than CBR, which is a Moderate. If your son loves pirates, I'd recommend CBR. If you think your kids won't care much for the pirate theme, but convenience to the parks is more important, then I'd recommend Polynesian.

I know that you will have a magical visit no matter which resort you choose.

    Magically,
    Stacy
