We have just booked a stay at the Polynesian resort for the first week of May. Is it possible to request a longhouse in advance instead of requesting at check-in when the likelihood of availability is less?

Yes. If you have special room requests, you can (and should) make them in advance of your arrival at WDW. Panelist Bret does a great job HERE of describing the procedure you should follow for doing this.

While nothing is guaranteed, if you follow step #3 in Bret's post, you will maximize your chance of getting the room location that you prefer.

    Have a great trip!
