I have a booked a stay in January 2019 for my birthday at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. I have read conflicting reviews on winter weather in Florida. How best to plan for unpredictable weather during this time?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ashley! I’m so happy to hear that you have a plan in the works for your birthday! January is a great time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort!

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a great place to stay and it also happens to be my family’s favorite value resort! There have been lots of refurbishments there lately, so I’m sure you’ll be pleased with what you find during your stay.

As a Florida Resident, my family and I experience all kinds of weather, from rainy and stormy in the Spring time to temperatures in the 40’s in February, the truth is, you never know what to expect! One time, my family and I visited the parks in December and temperatures were in the 80’s! Let’s just say I was regretting my long sleeve shirt choice that day!

I would advise you to pack at least a few t-shirts and shorts for your family members on the chance that you will have some warmer weather. Sunblock is important even if it’s cool out and you can never go wrong with having a poncho in your bag. Rainstorms can come through quickly and be over 10 minutes later!

Definitely pack some long-sleeved shirts and a comfy lightweight jacket too. It tends to be chilly at night with temperatures sometimes dipping into the low 40's! If you don’t want to carry around your family’s jackets, you can always rent a locker at the entrance of any of the four theme parks to store them until it gets cooler.

Ashley, I hope this information is helpful to you! Don’t hesitate to come back to see us with any more questions. Helping you plan your magical vacation is our favorite thing to do!
