I booked a royal room at Port Orleans for April 2026 specifically for the theming, but reading about the refurbishments, I’m worried that the room won’t have the details my kids are looking forward to! Can anyone tell me what we should expect?

    Hello there Princess Sara!

Welcome to planDisney, and I'm so pleased to be sending royal greetings to you and yours. Let's start out by establishing the fact that moms are princesses, too! And it is totally ok to get just as excited as our kids about having fireworks... right above our bed... in a Royal Room at Walt Disney World! Woo hoo!!

Sara, we don't know yet exactly what the Royal Rooms will look like after being refurbished at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort. But here's what we do know:

    1. It's incredibly exciting that these rooms are receiving a special pixie-dust spruce up! It's been some time since their last refurbishment, and Disney loves to keep things in tip-top shape for guests. How thrilling that you'll be one of the first to experience the new rooms!

    2. Although we don't know details, because they are accepting future reservations for these room types, we know they will still be themed as "Royal Rooms". Nobody tells a story like Disney does, and I can assure you there will be exciting, magical details for your children to discover in these accommodations fit for a prince or princess!

    3. When it's closer to the refurb being complete, the Disney Parks Blog will likely post an article featuring photos. So keep an eye out... I'd expect something similar to this recent article showcasing the gorgeous newly refurbished rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter. They're breathtaking!

Sara, I hope this builds some confidence that you will NOT be disappointed after the refurbishment is complete. And I'm so happy you went ahead and booked those Port Orleans Riverside Royal Rooms for next Spring, so you've got your dates reserved and won't miss out!

Please be assured, if after seeing the preview photos you don't feel it's a fit for your family... you can easily modify your resort reservation by heading to My Disney Experience - My Plans. Just look for the "Change Reservation" button, next to your resort details. Any deposit or amount paid will just transfer to your new reservation.

As Cinderella says, they can't order you to stop dreaming. And I'll be wishing upon a star that your royal stay at Disney World is everything your lovely kids hoped it would be! Please visit me again at planDisney if I can help with any other questions or magical details.

    Magical Memories Await,
    Tami
