I have booked a Royal Room for Feb 9-15, 2013 for my family (me, husband, 4yr old daughter, 8 yr old son). Wondering whether to stay here or go for an Art of Animation family suite. Is the extra cost worth it? Or are the Royal Rooms/POR Riverside nicer?

Hi, Marianne!  I think it depends on the type of experience you are looking for.  If you want a room that has more formal appointments, you might be happier at Port Orleans in a Royal Room.  If you're looking for extra space and some additional amenities, you might be more comfortable at the Art of Animation Resort.

Personally, I'd go for the extra room.  The brightly colored Art of Animation resort family suites will give you a private bedroom with a king sized bed, an extra bathroom, and a microwave oven.  With young children, the extra bathroom is great to have, and I love being able to make a few quick breakfasts in the room while everyone is getting ready to save time.

I like having a bedroom for mom and dad.  The kids can unwind in the living area with their fold out beds, watching a show on the Disney Channel, or Mom and Dad can watch the late news while the kids are sleeping without disturbing anyone.

I do love Port Orleans Riverside, and think the Royal Rooms are pretty awesome, but I'd go for extra space and and extra bathroom every time.

    Have a great vacation!
