We just booked a "quick" vacation to Disney during MLK Weekend! My husband and I have visited many times but it is first visit for our 2 year old daughter. How busy is MK during that weekend on Sat/Sun? We will just do MK since we can only go fo

    Hi Jennifer,

I'll be at WDW for my fourth annual MLK weekend trip very shortly. I can't wait!

My experience with the crowd levels that weekend during the last three years has been completely variable depending on the weather. The year that it was cold, rainy and windy, the parks were completely empty. I remember walking around the World Showcase one evening and literally not seeing any other guests. The year that it was 78 and sunny, the parks were (not surprisingly) much more busy. This tends to be a weekend when many locals visit; they will stay away if the weather is bad. However, even the most crowded day of MLK weekend will be nothing like the throngs that were there this past week for the Christmas and New Years holiday. I'd say worst-case scenario, you're looking at high moderate crowd levels.

As with any visit to Walt Disney World, I'd suggest that you get to the park early, about half an hour before opening time. With a two-year-old, the first ride I'd go on would be Dumbo. This is a very slow loading ride with I line that gets long quickly. After that, you should be able to get in 5-7 Fantasyland rides before the mid-morning crowds pick up.

If your daughter wants to meet the Tinker Bell characters, I would try to make this your first stop on one of your visit days. This line also gets very long, very quickly.

Have a great time and be sure to say 'Hi" if you see me at the Magic Kingdom!
