Hi there, Erik! Thanks so much for visiting planDisney with your vacation planning question. You've got a friend in me, and I'm happy to help with the information you're looking for!
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is my very favorite place in all of
Walt Disney World Resort. Our family stayed there for my first visit way back in 1981, and it was love at first sight! When my husband and I decided to join
Disney Vacation Club many years later, I was delighted that we could choose the Polynesian as our Home Resort. It's a magical place, and there is nothing better than watching the
Electrical Water Pageant on Seven Seas Lagoon from the beach with a tropical treat from
Pineapple Lanai in hand!
Construction began on a new DVC tower at the Polynesian in late 2022, located on the west end of the resort that is nearest to
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The tower is taking shape, and I'm excited to see the progress each time I visit! Although there is no definite opening date for this much-anticipated new addition to the Monorail loop, I'm hoping for a late 2024 ribbon-cutting!
Erik, the construction should have a minimal impact on your stay, as work is limited to daytime hours to avoid disturbing Guests as much as possible. The walking path between the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian is currently closed, so you will need to take the Monorail or a boat to reach the neighboring resort. If you do wander over to the Grand Floridian, my planDisney besties
Jenna and
Brent can't say enough good things about
Enchanted Rose, an elegant
Beauty and the Beast-inspired lounge featuring sophisticated drinks and food!
I hope you have a wonderful vacation, Erik--it will be here before we know it! Thanks again for visiting planDisney, and please don't hesitate to stop by again if we can help with any other questions you may have.
See Ya Real Soon!
Susan
