I just booked a 4 night getaway at Hilton Head Resort during the week of Christmas. Besides day trips to Savannah and Charleston, what else can I do with my 3 kids - 18 yo, 16 yo, and 10 yo. Restaurants? Thanks!

Hi there, Lisa! People always look at me a little funny when I tell them I'm heading to a Disney Vacation Club resort not going to Orlando. If only they knew how amazing it is!

Nothing says relaxing like Christmas at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Many of the tourists you see over the warmer months in Hilton Head have gone home, and you are left with much of the island as a tranquil escape from the holiday hustle. The resort itself will have activities planned each day. If you check in at the front desk, they'll have a schedule of events for you to participate in during your stay. Some of the things on the schedule of resort activities is geared towards kids under 17, but the outdoor movies and campfires are great for the whole family.

You can also rent some fishing gear or crab nets to check out some local fishing, and the area also has dolphin watching boats that may go out depending on the weather. On two of my three December/January visits, my kids were still able to put their feet into the ocean, thanks to warmer weather.

Check out the local Christmas lights while you're there. Dove Street Festival of Lights is always a hit with my gang, and there are other local must see light displays. For some unique American Art, the Nash Gallery might be a cool stop as well.

The resort is right next to Shelter Cove Marina, and there are a bunch of restaurants. ELA's on the Water is especially good, but there are quick bites there as well.

    Have fun!
