we are booked on Magic for our first ever cruises in May 8 nights from NY. can you advise me on dressing for dinner. are there formal nights? How formal? do I need long dresses or is cocktail style smart enough? Does my hubby need a jacket / formal dress?

    Hi again Celeste!

I know you are thrilled to be one the first cruisers to sail the new New York City itinerary.  You are going to love the Disney Magic and all that it has to offer during your eight days onboard.

Your cruise attire for dinner will consist of a formal night and a semi-formal night.  A long dress or cocktail length will be fine for either one.  Wear what you feel most comfortable in.  On formal night, my husband usually wears his suit.  For semi-formal, he has worn a sports coat and dress pants with a tie and also without a tie.

The other nights on your cruise vacation will be cruise casual.  I enjoy wearing sundresses, tops with skirts or nice pants.  My husband wears his khaki pants and collared polo shirts.  There will also be a pirate night in which many Guests get creative in their attire.  Black, white, red and stripes are popular on this night!

I hope this information helps you in your planning.  Please let me know if you have anymore questions before the big day!

Have a fantastic day and a fabulous cruise!
