We booked our first WDW trip for our 5YO daughter for 2/14-2/19/13. I read online that this timeframe is very busy due to Presidents day. If we have flexibility with our travel dates, should we try to change our trip to a week earlier due to crowds?

How exciting that you are planning your first of hopefully many more Walt DIsney World Vacations, Jim! You are very wise to take into consideration the crowd levels when planning your trip. I like to visit the independent website allears.net to view their Historic Attendance Levels chart when planning our vacations. According to their Historic Attendance Levels Chart, "Presidents' Week" is categorized as "highest attendance;" whereas, all of February prior to "Presidents' Week" is categorized as  "lowest attendance."  If you do have flexibility with your travel dates, I would recommend changing your vacation to a week earlier. I like to plan our Walt Disney World Vacations for times of the year that are usually considered "lowest" or "moderate" in terms of crowd levels and almost always avoid the busier times of the year. With that being said, it can be quite difficult to predict crowd levels with 100 percent certainty; however, you can usually expect crowd levels to increase when most schools are not in session such as Spring Break Holidays, Summer Break, and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. I hope this information helps in making your decision. Please feel free to write me back with any additional questions. Best wishes for a Magical first Walt DIsney World Vacation, Jim!
    Happy Planning,
