We have booked DVC accommodation for three weeks but will be having guests' for two of those weeks. Are the guests able to purchase DDP for the two weeks they are with us. We will be purchasing DDP for the whole of our stay.

    Hi Janice!

Three weeks sounds like a lovely long holiday, and spending the time with friends and family adds to the magic!

The Disney Dining Plan must be purchased for all guests for the entire length of the reservation. This means that if guests are only staying for two of the three weeks, they must still purchase the Disney Dining Plan for all three weeks.

We have been in this same situation before when my husband’s family joined us for only part of our vacation. I have a few ideas that might help make this work better for you.  The first idea, which might work out well since it is such a long holiday, is to divide your stay into separate reservations. With this method, your guests would only have to purchase the Disney Dining Plan for the reservation that they would be staying on. The downside to this method is that you might be required to change rooms on the day that your reservation changes. You will also receive multiple sets of Magic Bands, and have to juggle multiple reservations. This is however, the most cost effective option.

The second idea is more fun, but less affordable. What we did was that we purchased and paid for the extra days of the Disney Dining Plan that our family did not use.  You would then have those extra credits to use for yourselves, and you could book more deluxe locations such as Signature Dining restaurants that require two table service credits.

I hope this gives you some ideas as you decide on the Disney Dining Plan for your party. Make sure to use those snack credits wisely! My favorites are Dole Whip Floats, Carrot Cake Cookies from the Writer’s Stop, and Soarin’ Brûlée from Sunshine Seasons!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
