Hi! We just booked the Disney Family Culinary Adventure and I'm really excited. Has anyone done this and know what to expect? How long does it last and is it worth the money? Thanks!

Hi, Susanne!  This is a new behind the scenes offering, and I cannot wait to do it with my children.  It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun - and this is coming from someone who does all they can at home to avoid the kitchen!  Who knew i'd want to go on vacation to cook?

As of now - and this is still the early days of this activity - there is an hour long instructional portion, where you will learn from the masters of Disney's kitchens.  Sushi preparation, pasta making, meat trimming, and even some fun with chocolate will be included in this hands on activity.  You will then have some time in the kitchen to ask questions, see some other things being prepared, and getting all the notes you can jot down.

Following the learning portion, guests will be treated to the eating portion of the program.  The families will be seated at a large table, where you will dine on a five course meal, created from the foods you learned about and helped to prepare.  During this time, you won't be quite done learning all there is to know about cooking at Walt Disney World.  You'll be able to see demonstrations on things like molecular gastronomy.

The evening ends with each guest taking home their chef's toque (the cool hat real chef's wear), and you'll get a cookbook autographed by the chefs.  I think it's well worth the cost ($125 for children ages 3-9, $175 for adults.  The meal includes beer and wine for adults, and just having the chance to learn from some of the best makes it worth it to me.

I hope your family has a blast!
