I just booked a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale. How far is the port from the airport? Will I need to arrange transportation from airport to port?

    Hi Janet!

Welcome back to planDisney. How exciting that you'll be sailing from Disney Cruise Line's newest year-round home port in South Florida. Fort Lauderdale will begin welcoming Disney Cruise Line guests with sailings from Port Everglades beginning November 2023

Port Everglades Terminal is located 4 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, which should be just about a 15-minute car ride. Parking is available at the terminal should you be arriving in a personal vehicle, but if you're flying in I'd recommend a ride share or taxi since it's just a short drive from the airport. Disney Cruise Line does offer ground transportation for select embarkation points, but Fort Lauderdale is not currently listed. You can contact them by phone for more information and further assistance if you'd prefer to go this route.

Since you'll be sailing on Disney Dream, I'd love to share a few helpful tips I've learned from my own recent sailings. Porters will greet you upon arrival at the port to assist with luggage, but be sure to pack a swimsuit in your carry-on bag if you'd like to swim or take a ride on the Aqua Duck as soon as you board the ship. Though your luggage will be delivered to your Stateroom later that day, our kids were eager to get started on the fun so having swimsuits (and a dry change of clothes) handy made for an exciting first few hours on the ship. We were even able to relax on a poolside lounger and wave to them as they circled the deck above us; a truly magical way to kick off any vacation!

During your sailing, I'd urge you to make time to watch the stage production of Beauty and the Beast. It's one of the most incredible Broadway-caliber shows we've ever watched- including those on both land and sea. Finally, if you're looking to enjoy stellar fine dining and exceptional service, I can't recommend a meal at Remy highly enough. My husband and I reserved the Champagne Brunch there a few years back and the breathtaking sea views were only second to the incredible menu items we enjoyed.

I'm wishing you the most magical voyage! Stop back and visit us again with more planning questions.
