Hi Monica,
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re considering canceling your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. I can only imagine how disappointed you must feel. Let’s see if we can sprinkle a little pixie dust on this situation to help you find the best option and I hope it won’t be too long before you get to head back to the magic again!
Disney has different
cancellation policies depending on how your vacation was booked. If you still have your confirmation email, it should include the specific details for your reservation. There is typically a detailed cancellation policy specific to your reservation on that confirmation email. This will be the ultimate deciding factor when determining the terms you agreed to when booking your original reservation.
Room-Only Reservations:If you booked a Disney Resort hotel with a Room-Only reservation, you can cancel up to 5 days before your stay for a full refund, including your initial deposit. For cancellations made 0–4 days before your arrival, the cost of a one-night stay (typically equal to your deposit) will be nonrefundable.
2024 Disney World Packages:If you’ve booked a package, you can cancel 30 days or more before your arrival and receive a full refund, minus any third-party fees if applicable. For cancellations made 2–29 days before your arrival, you’ll get a refund minus a $200 cancellation fee per package, along with any third-party fees. Unfortunately, cancellations made 1 day or less before your arrival are nonrefundable.
Once you’ve made the difficult decision to cancel, you can handle the process directly through your
