Hello Brittany! Welcome to planDisney!
Your son is going to be so excited to celebrate his upcoming birthday with the Fab Five!
Chef Mickey's is one of my family's favorite character dining locations because we get to see some of the most important people (at least to the kids!) at
Walt Disney World Resort, all in one place! We recently stayed at
Disney's Contemporary Resort but didn't have reservations at Chef Mickey's and my kids were so bummed. Apparently, this dining experience is a "must-do" for us every trip!
It sounds like you were able to order your son's
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake right online through your
My Disney Experience account. This surprise from the
Enchanting Extras Collection is such an easy and fun way to add a special, personalized touch to a dining reservation, especially for something like a birthday.
Online cake ordering is only available at select dining locations and most times there are a limited number of cakes available on a first-come, first-serve basis. My best advice would be to take a special trip to Chef Mickey's as close to your arrival at the Resort as possible. This way, you'll be able to speak with the host at the podium and explain the situation. Since the website does say that cake "modifications can only be made at that chosen restaurant" I would get there as soon as possible to make sure one of their "Happy Birthday" cakes can be saved for you!
I'm sure Cast Members will do everything they can to make this change for you as long as there are still "Happy Birthday" cakes available! Don't forget to end this special day with the "bang!" of spectacular fireworks! Whether you're at
Magic Kingdom enjoying
Disney Enchantment or strolling World Showcase during
Harmonious, fireworks are another sure-fire way to make this a birthday your son will never forget!
Don't forget to also pick up a "Happy Birthday" pin from any Guest Relations location or at the Front Desk of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel for your son to wear all throughout your trip!
Enjoy!
