Booked at Bay Lake Tower at Contemporary Resort because I have been told by many that it is so much better to travel by the monerail system rather than the buses. A price difference of nearly $2000 vs. if we were to stay at value resort, is it worth the $?

    Hello fellow Kentuckian!

My immediate answer is no, it's not worth $2000 for a monorail. For one thing, the monorail only goes from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot. You'll still have to take a bus to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, and the water parks, no matter which resort you choose.

That isn't to say that Bay Lake Tower isn't wonderful - it certainly is! The view is breathtaking, it's very convenient, and has nice amenities. And yes, the monorail is convenient. If you plan to spend a great deal of time at your resort, then you will notice and appreciate the luxury of a deluxe resort. Those are all reasons to stay there, in my opinion. But the monorail alone? No way. And if you plan to be in the parks most of the time anyway, you won't be fully using or appreciating those pricey perks, anyway!

If you don't want to ride a bus, consider renting a car. That would certainly cost you far less than the $2000 price difference in resorts! In my opinion, that money could be better spent elsewhere in your vacation budget.
