Hi there, Gwen.
My son is a severe asthmatic, so I completely understand your concern about the current
mask policy at Walt Disney World Resort.
There is no medical exception to the mask policy, and every person, two years of age and older must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth at all times. This face covering must be made of at least two layers of breathable material and be secured with ear loops or ties. Additionally, gaiters and masks with valves are not allowed.
While there are no exceptions to this policy I do, however, have some tips that you may find helpful.
My first tip would be to take full advantage of the relaxation stations. Located in each theme park, these relaxation stations have tables and chairs set more than 6 feet apart where you may rest with your masks off for as long as you wish. Some of these spots are even air-conditioned!
I would recommend that you make a sit-down
dining reservation for each day of your trip. This break, ideally at mid-day, will also give you a great stretch of mask-free time to sit and relax over lunch. Stopping for a snack (while stationary and in a designated area) also allows you to get a bit of a break from your mask.
I would also advise you to practice with a mask for long stretches of time, to see how it affects you personally. I know for my son, certain types of masks are far easier than others to wear for any amount of time.
I hope that this answered your question, Gwen. I know it isn't an easy decision to make but know that whenever you and your party are ready to visit Walt Disney World Resort the magic will be here waiting for you.
