Hiya, Erin, and welcome to planDisney! Mickey and I are happy that you found your way here to ask your question!
First of all, congratulations on beginning to plan your magical vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort! There are a LOT of things that go into planning a Disney vacation, and you are on your way to making it happen.
Once you have put a $200 deposit down on a Walt Disney World vacation package, it locks in your rate. Which is awesome! And, you have until 30 days before your check-in date to pay off the package. At any time before the 30-day mark, you can make changes, make payments, or cancel your reservation completely with no penalty. Things that can be changed include the number of days for tickets, park hopper, &
Memory Maker.
Also, after you have made that deposit, you can create your
MyDisneyExperience account, link your reservation to it, and make theme park reservations. Once you have theme park reservations, these can also be changed up until the day of the reservation. All of this can be done on the MyDisneyExperience website or in the MyDisneyExperience app.
Since you are booking within the 60-day window, you can immediately begin making dining reservations via MyDisneyExperience. These are able to be cancelled with no penalty up until 24 hours before your reservation time, so have some fun with the booking! I typically change our dining reservations at least twice before we actually travel. And, if you aren’t able to get one of your favorites, be sure to check the app on the day you wanted the reservation. We were recently able to get into
Jungle Navigation Co. Skipper Canteen by joining the virtual queue on the day we were in Magic Kingdom.
I am so excited for you to get started on your journey to a Walt Disney World vacation! Please come back and visit us again with more questions that come up as you continue to plan.
Happy Traveling,
Tracy
