Hello there Erica, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for visiting us with your question. I'd be happy to provide some magical details so your fur baby can accompany you when you visit Walt Disney World Resort.
You are correct that Disney's Art of Animation is one of four
Disney World Resorts which allow pets, and that the pet fee at that particular resort is an additional $50 per night. Each of these resorts have designated dog-friendly rooms available in a variety of room categories. These rooms will have easy access to outdoor walkways for exercise, and to green spaces with pet relief areas. I chatted with a Cast Member and he said you'll need to call (407) 939-5277 to reserve a pet friendly room. Personally, I like to book myself online so I can see all of the room type options and total package price. Perhaps you can use the
Build My Vacation tool to search first, and select your dates and preference of room type. Then give Disney a call and have them make your reservation, including a note about needing a pet-friendly room.
Once you arrive, just check in at the front desk to register your pup and agree to adhere to the pet policies. Dogs and their owners will be greeted with a complimentary Pluto’s Welcome Kit!
As a reminder, dogs are not permitted in theme parks, water parks or common areas such as restaurants, pools and recreational spaces (with the exception of
service animals). If a kennel would be a helpful alternative option instead, Best Friends Pet Care offers pet boarding during your stay at a Disney Resort. They have a variety of accommodations, and are located across from Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside at 2510 Bonnet Creek Parkway.
I'll be sending pixie dust for you to have a wonderful time at Walt Disney World, Erica! Please feel free to contact us at planDisney if we can answer any other questions, or offer any tips or recommendations for a magical stay.
Off to Neverland!
