If I book 7 nights on a package deal and later decide I need to trim it to 6 nights can I just modify the reservation or would I need to do another reservation like when trying to add a night

Hi Jeffrey, and welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like you have a pixie-dusted visit coming up, with plenty of days to experience the magic. Now, let’s chat about any modifications you may need to make so you’re all set for your trip!

Generally, if you booked a vacation package directly through the Disney World website, you can modify the dates by going to My Plans, finding your resort hotel stay, and clicking the Change Reservation button. However, the options for your new dates will depend on the availability of the room and the special offer applied to your package (even if you're looking for less nights than your original dates). If you need to trim your reservation, but aren’t seeing availability when you try to modify, I’d recommend calling the Tickets and Hotel Reservations phone number. Sometimes, Cast Members have been able to shorten my reservation over the phone when I wasn’t able to do it online.

As you’re getting ready for your vacation, don’t forget about the perks that start even before you arrive! First, Disney Resort hotel guests can make reservations for dining and Enchanting Extras starting 60 days before check-in for your entire stay (up to a 10-night stay). This is great for booking popular experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and my favorite character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace. I love starting the day with Mickey and friends in their artist outfits!

And, if you’re planning to purchase Lightning Lane Passes, Disney Resort hotel guests can make their selections up to seven days ahead of check-in for your whole stay (up to 14 days). This is a big leg up for snagging hard-to-get attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Slinky Dog Dash.

I hope you have the most magical vacation at Disney World! And if you have any other questions before your trip, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
