Hello Kelley,
Sip, sip, hooray! Allow me to raise a glass and toast your welcome to planDisney. We're always happy to get to the bottom of the barrel for any guest's question. I may not have all the answers, but I'll always "agave" it a shot!
I'm a big fan of
La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT's Mexico Pavilion. A friend and I visited last year and enjoyed The Lily Margarita complete with dramatic presentation, as well as my personal favorite, the Dos Hombres Avocado. Between the delicious chips and guacamole, the fun atmosphere, and the fantastic cocktails we nearly had to force ourselves to exit to continue our day sipping around World Showcase. This year we returned but saved Mexico for the end of the day so we could relax without worry of missing the fun elsewhere in the park.
I have not participated in the
La Cava Experience just yet, but it's on my wish list for an upcoming adult-only January trip. Led by a certified Tequila Ambassador, guests will embark on a cultural journey to learn the history and unique aspects of a variety of tequilas, some of which are exclusive to this experience. Please note that though this tasting is called the La Cava Experience, it is currently held across the way at
La Hacienda de San Angel.
As you know, the tasting is reserved for guests aged 21+. I wanted to squeeze out a little more information for you so I contacted Cast Members for assistance. I spoke with two friendly folks via the online chat but I wanted to be certain I was providing you with the most accurate information, especially since this experience incurs an additional cost and includes a fee for no-shows or cancellations made outside the policy period. I contacted the Palmas Restaurant Group directly and just received a helpful update from the General Manager of the La Cava Experience.
He clarified that this event is reserved for a small group of up to 18 guests, and each seat requires a reservation. Therefore, you only need to make a reservation for the guests participating in the actual experience (in this case 2), ensuring other guests have the opportunity to book a spot. He also informed me that your daughter would
not be allowed inside the tasting room but could wait in the restaurant's dining area (adjacent to the tequila room) while you enjoy the tasting.
If your teen is old enough to enjoy a solo adventure, she might want to ride an attraction or experience some of EPCOT's fantastic entertainment while you enjoy the tasting. Just note that as stated in the
property rules, children must be accompanied by a guest at least 14 years old. I know my soon-to-be 14-year-old would be absolutely thrilled to ride
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind while my husband and I sipped our way through some spirits. I don't know that I'm ready to set him loose in
EPCOT alone just yet, but if your daughter is an older teen you might consider purchasing an
Individual Lightning Lane for her to coincide with your tasting reservation.
I hope this helped, Kelley. If we can answer any additional planning questions please don't hesitate to come back and let us know. Just know you'll have to get into the "spirit" of things and should take our humor and silly puns with a grain of salt.
Keep calm and tequila on,
Amy
