We are going to book our first trip to disney for Week of May 18,2015. We are looking into staying at either boardwalk or animal kingdom. Looking for feedback on both hotels. Being this is our first trip we would love any tips. We have a 6yr, 4yr and 1.

    Hi Stephanie,

I love the Walt Disney World Resort in May as the weather is great and the crowds are not at capacity!

My family has stayed at both the Boardwalk Inn and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We love both for different reasons and I hope this will help make your decision.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is just beautiful! It feels like you are far away in Africa and the animals are an added bonus. We also love the possibility of bunk beds so no one has to share a bed at night. For our last trip, we stayed at the Kidani Village side and the pool there was great. It is like a mini-water park. The downside to this resort is that the only transportation to any of the parks is by the bus. While for older children this is not an issue, you will have a stroller and it can be tiring to cart it to and from the parks especially at the end of the day. If you plan on coming back for a midday break, you will need to figure in at least a good two hours for transportation to and from when adding waiting times.

Disney's Boardwalk Inn is where my daughters grew up on Disney vacations. We stayed here almost every time when we came down. We loved being able to push them in the stroller to either Disney's Hollywood Studios or Epcot or hop on the boat. We only needed the bus for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. If we were at Magic Kingdom late at night, we took the monorail home and walked through Epcot. This was so nice. Of course, we had park hoppers and our girls were asleep by 8:00 pm when they were little. And while we did not do a break back at our resort, it would have been super easy from this location.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
