Can I book a DVC to Saratoga Springs at 11 months then change it to Grand Floridian as long as they have an opening at 7 months? Or do I Wait List or what? Specifically for early December 2016 to experience Christmas at WDW. Thank you!

    Hi Cassie!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is your Disney Vacation Club Home Resort, than you may indeed book it beginning 11 months prior to check-in. If you would like to try to stay at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you may try to switch your reservation 7 months prior to your check-in day. As long as there is availability, you can book it at that time. If there is no availability, you may then put in a wait list request for those dates. You cannot put a wait list request in however, prior to the 7 month mark if it is not your Home Resort.

While early December is not traditionally a busy time at the Walt Disney World Resort, it is becoming more popular with Disney Vacation Club Members due to the lower points needed to book a room and the lower overall crowd levels during one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit. I would recommend booking your stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa so that you know you know you have a room during your desired time, then at exactly 7 months prior to your check-in date, I would try switching to another resort. You can use the Resort Availability Tool on the DVC Member Website prior to your 7 month call day to get an idea of availability at the various resorts. If you are not able to switch resorts, I would absolutely recommend Wait Listing your stay. People do change plans frequently, so you might end up with some pixie dust! I hope that helps you as you plan your holiday trip for next year. Please come back with any additional questions we can help you with.

I hope this helps to answer your question, and I wish you good luck securing your desired resort reservation!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
