James,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
There are so many great
Disney transportation options! You will find that they are extremely convenient, and some are even attractions unto themselves! Let's take a look, by transportation type.
MonorailOf course the
monorail is the gold standard of transportation with a theme. Connecting the monorail resort of
Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to both the Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT, they offer fast and easy access to the parks.
Disney SkylinerThe newest transportation option at Walt Disney World, the
Disney Skyliner is a great way to connect guests of
Disney's Riviera Resort,
Disney's Yacht Club Resort,
Disney's BoardWalk Inn,
Disney's Beach Club Resort,
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, and Disney's Pop Century Resort to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. These gondolas are a constant loading service, so no waiting for your ride car to arrive.
BoatsThe
boats may be slower, but they are a scenic and convenient way to get from the aforementioned monorail resorts, as well as between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness area to the Magic Kingdom. There are also friendship boats connecting Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Beach Club Resort, the Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan Hotels to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
BusesI know that riding a
bus does not sound either fun, or convenient. But Disney does have a nice fleet of buses, most of which are now decked out with USB ports for you to recharge your phone as you travel. They are what connect most resorts to the parks, and to Disney Springs, unless otherwise mentioned in the above transportation categories. Of course, to be candid, the buses are not the most fun of these choices, and you can wait up to 20 minutes for the bus headed to your particular destination to arrive, but they still are a wonderfully air-conditioned way to get you to the magic!
BONUS TIP #1You will find that when it comes to handling wheelchair and ECV transportation, Disney does a great job. They are very accommodating, so don't let that dissuade you from any of these options.
BONUS TIP #2For a monorail resort, you monorail to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and bus to all other destinations.
Have a Magical Vacation!
