Ahoy, Andrea!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I recently returned from a December sailing on the Disney Dream and would book another
Very Merrytime Cruise in a heartbeat. I loved all the holiday decor and attention to detail especially the three-deck tall Christmas tree and the delicious aroma coming from the life-sized Gingerbread House both in the Grand Lobby Atrium. There were many highlights like when the tree was magically lit by Mickey and his gang on the first evening and when the lobby was filled with the holiday spirit during Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball! The festive touches really made this cruise one of my most memorable vacations with Captain Mickey!
As you secure a reservation for a December 2017 sailing, I highly recommend booking any Guest who may sail with you at the time of initial booking. First, safety is the number one concern aboard Disney Cruise Line so there must be a space in the lifeboat area for each Guest. If capacity has been reached for your area, you will have trouble adding a Guest even though your stateroom may accommodate more. Also, if the Guest is a child, youth programming only allows a set number of kids per cruise to keep the spaces safe and secure. Another reason to book everyone at the same time is cruise rates can change at anytime so the added person may have to pay more for their fare. I'm not sure which ship and itinerary you are considering, but as long as you aren't cruising the Concierge level or booked a stateroom category with a restriction, you can cancel without penalty prior to final payment. I suggest reading over the
Disney Cruise Line Terms and Conditions for more info.
Andrea, thank you for cruising by with your question.
Have a magical day!
Nancy
