How do I book the dining plan? I am currently booking my stay at the shades of green resort but I do not see the option for the dining plan anywhere. Thank you

    Hi Rodney,

Welcome to planDisney! Your vacation is just around the corner, and I'm sure you can't wait for the magic to begin.

I'm happy to hear you're already booked at Shades of Green. There are no eligible US Military members in my travel party, so I haven't experienced it myself, but I've heard the rooms are quite spacious, and you certainly can't beat the proximity to Magic Kingdom Park.

Unfortunately, Shades of Green is not eligible for the dining plan options, as the resort is not owned or operated by The Walt Disney Company. I reached out to a Cast Member to confirm, and they advised that the program currently just extends to room and ticket packages at Disney Resorts Collection hotels. I know this is not the answer you hoped for, but I feel confident you'll still enjoy plenty of delicious bites even without a dining plan.

My family usually has a quick breakfast while getting ready in our room (yogurt, muffins, and fruit are typical go-tos, plus coffee, of course) and then plans for a mid-morning snack. I like timing this around the spring roll cart opening at Magic Kingdom Park, or placing a Mobile Order for a Ronto Morning Wrap at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We take a break for a late lunch/early dinner at a Table Service restaurant, which helps us beat the crowds and the late afternoon heat, and we'll grab another snack (or two) later in the evening. We almost always save room for popcorn or ice cream while enjoying the nighttime entertainment.

My teens are still growing, so we may change our tune on future trips as their appetites continue to grow as well, but so far, the dining plans haven't felt like the right fit for our family. We like to remain flexible and follow our hunger cues on a day-to-day basis instead of keeping track of meal entitlements on top of Lighting Lane windows, parade schedules, etc.

Rodney, I'm sorry I didn't have better news for you today, but I'm still wishing you a most magical trip. If we can answer any additional questions as you chip away at your countdown, please come back and let us know.

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
