Hello! How are you? If I book a Club Level room at the Grand Floridian, do I need the dining plan if I want to dine with characters?

Welcome, Francisca. You're going to be at the Walt Disney World Resort so soon! I'm so excited for you!

Anyone dining at a character meal can dine with the characters in that restaurant. No dining plan is necessary! For example, I just dined two weeks ago at 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa without the dining plan, and each character came over to the table, chatted about their wishes, and took a few pictures. Just note that advance dining reservations are highly encouraged for these experiences, as walk-up availability is typically limited or, well, unavailable. And since you're staying Club Level, you'll have access to Club Level Concierge, who can assist with vacation planning, including dining reservations, so be sure to take advantage!

I've done my fair share of these types of dining experiences, and they are always memorable. And whether you are typically outgoing or a little timid in these situations, like me, the characters know exactly how to engage each Guest in a way that makes them comfortable, seen, and entertained. The highlight of our meal at 1900 Park Fare was Princess Tiana, by far. And while she may have been a little disappointed that I'm not a chef like her, she didn't show it! But we ended our conversation with me promising to experiment a little bit more in the kitchen, which is a challenge I'm definitely up for!

If you're interested in dining with royalty, be sure to look into Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom Park or, my favorite, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT. Both allow you to dine with Princesses while munching on some delicious food. And if classic characters with both familiar and more exotic eats sound appealing, look into Tusker House Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Mickey Mouse and friends in safari gear with an African-inspired feast? Yes, please.

Francisca, enjoy every moment of your stay at the Grand Floridian. We stayed there during our last visit for the first time, and every moment was simply exquisite. If you have any other questions, I'm here for you!

Wishing you a practically perfect vacation in every way,
    Matt
