When can you book character dinners?

Ahoy, Barbara! It sounds like you have an upcoming Disney Cruise and you’re already excited about greeting Captain Mickey and his crew! Thanks for stopping by planDisney ahead of your voyage to get some tips.

At this time, there are not any character meals like the ones you might be familiar with at Disney Parks. That being said, you will find some incredible opportunities to meet and interact with your favorite Disney Pals. Here are two I recommend depending on what ship you are sailing on:

    Royal Court Royal Tea Party
If you are sailing on the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, or Disney Fantasy, prepare to experience the royal treatment with Lady Chamomile, Chef Brule, and some of your favorite Disney princesses. I discovered this event when I was looking for a proper tea for my British mother when I took her on a mother/daughter cruise on the Disney Dream, but alas, it’s reserved for parties containing a Prince or Princess ages 3-12.

    Olaf’s Royal Picnic
If you’re sailing on the Disney Wish, you can celebrate Olaf’s favorite season (SUMMER!) with everyone’s favorite snowman while visiting with your favorite Frozen friends: Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. This magical picnic is also designed for Guests ages 3-12, who will each receive an assortment of gifts as a keepsake of their experience.

And though not an official character dinner per se, you’ll find Disney Characters at some of your scheduled rotational dining restaurants. For example, dinner at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish is centered around the royal engagement of Queen Anna and Kristoff, where they perform and interact with some special friends. I even got to sing “Let It Go” with Kristoff as he passed by our table, so have those cameras ready because you never know who might show up for dinner.

One more thing, Barbara. To ensure you don’t miss meeting your favorite Disney friends around the ship, download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, where you will find Character Greetings scheduled throughout the voyage. I’ve even met Goofy by the pool in his swim attire while eating ice cream!

All this talk about food has made me hungry for all the delicious dishes on board. I hope I’ve wet your whistle for all the fun you can have. If you think of any other questions along the way, don’t hesitate to dance back to us here at planDisney.

    Bon voyage,
    Sami
