Sue,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Getting from resort to resort can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, but if you know the best path it can be both scenic, and fun!
I am not going to assume that you have any theme park reservations for the day, so that the directions I provide cover whatever your day's plans have in store. Of course, if you have a car, simply driving over would be the easiest. But here is what I would do if I were in your shoes and wanted to use Disney Resort Transportation.
- Hop on a bus from Disney's Contemporary Resort to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Estimated travel time: 25 minutes, not including wait time for the bus to arrive at your resort hotel.
- Without entering the park, simply walk over and get on the Disney Skyliner. You will first take a 6-minute ride to the station at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, then you will transfer to the line that takes you to the station outside of EPCOT. Estimated travel time: 20 minutes, not including the time to transfer from one Skyliner line to the other. If you are not traveling at peak times this should just take you a few minutes, at most.
- Walk from the EPCOT Disney Skyliner station to Disney's BoardWalk. This is about a 1/4 mile walk to the BoardWalk (4/10 of a kilometer). Estimated walk time: 5 minutes.
So all-in-all, you are looking at about 50 minutes of travel time, not including transfers and waiting for your bus to arrive initially at the Contemporary. I would plan at least an hour, to be safe.
BONUS TIP #1
While riding a bus at the start may not seem fun at all, I think you will find the Skyliner rides to be an attraction unto themselves. The views are fantastic, and you can just sit back and relax as you soar to your destination!
BONUS TIP #2While it won't be there for your May visit this year, coming to the BoardWalk soon is the
Cake Bake Shop! This amazing (and decadent) restaurant is from my home town of Carmel, IN, and if you come back to the BoardWalk you will have to visit!
Write me back if you have any follow-up questions!
Have a Magical Vacation!
