Welcome aboard, Jane! It sounds like this Disney Magic sailing will be your very first cruise with Disney. I'm thrilled for you and your family to experience the magic that awaits you onboard and in the ports of call!
There is
so much included in the cost of your Disney Cruise Line vacation, Jane. But, as you mentioned, there are opportunities to purchase extras over and above what is included, such as adult beverages, merchandise in the
gift shops and Port Adventures. Guests are given a Key To The World Card as they check in at port, which serves as a keycard to their room, identification onboard, and charge card to their stateroom account. Anything you'd like to purchase onboard can be done with this card. Now, that's a little scary thinking that the kids are given these too, right? Smoothies for all their new friends! No, don't worry. I found out quickly the first time we sailed that during online check-in that parents can allow charging privileges or not for each child, so don't worry about them going to town in the gift shops!
You mentioned chocolate and popcorn. I believe you may have heard that at the Buena Vista Theatre for first run Disney movies, and at the Walt Disney Theatre for the Broadway-style shows, there are concessions available to purchase. However, you're also welcome to bring other snacks into the theatre, so you can save money in that way. My kids love to fill up a cup with soft serve ice cream on the pool deck then top it off with Coke for a Coke float. That's their special evening treat for the shows.
Have so much fun planning this adventure, Jane!
