We board the Fantasy on 1/11/13. We are bringing small gifts for some of the friends traveling with us. (Books, t-shirts, nothing that should set off an x-ray screener). Is it okay for these to be wrapped in our checked bags? Or best not to wrap?

Welcome aboard, Gregory! Only a few days left until you begin your vacation on the Disney Fantasy! Those last few days before setting sail are always so exciting: bringing out the suitcases, browsing the Disney Cruise Line website a few more times, and then counting the hours until you set sail!

The good news is that guests are allowed to pack wrapped gifts in their luggage, however, just as with airport security, they could possibly be opened if your bag needs to be searched. As you mentioned, those items aren't likely to set off anything security-wise, but there is no guarantee. You may just toss in a few flat gift wrap sheets or flat gift bags just in case you find your luggage did have to be searched. Again, doubtful, but better to be prepared with backup wrapping just in case, right?

Have a wonderful cruise and say hi to Captain Mickey for me!
