Hi Lisa,
Hooray for first trips and family time at the Walt Disney World Resort! My family will still choose Walt Disney World as a vacation option and they are 18 and 20.
Chef Mickey's is fine for guests of all ages. It is a buffet and Mickey and his friends have a party during your meal. I like dining there for breakfast before heading to Magic Kingdom.
As for dining, except for Victoria & Albert's which has an age restriction and dress code, most
Disney dining is fine for guests of all ages. We brought our daughters when they were three and five to the
California Grill for dinner.
My family books a table service dinner each night. This allows us to sit and decide what to do in the evening. In July, it guarantees you a seat with air conditioning. Breakfast and lunch are counter service meals to keep us going.
When looking at restaurants for meals, look at restaurants in the park you are touring first. The other option is to dine at restaurants in resorts nearby. For example, if we can not get a reservation at Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom, we head to the Wave or California Grill in Disney's Contemporary or Whispering Canyon Cafe in Disney's Wilderness Lodge. This gets you out of the parks and away from the crowds.
Disney Springs also has great options and we dine there often.
Look at restaurant's menus. If it is something your family will eat, book it. Most restaurants have food for everyone. What might be a favorite for one person may not be for another.
Wishing you a magical vacation!
Beth
