Are there birthday buttons and birthday pins you can get from all 4 parks? Or are they the same? I have heard about BB at town hall, but I have also heard about BP like the ones that go on the lanyards. Is this true, and are they free like the buttons?

This is confusing, so bear with me. Buttons and pins are not the same thing. Birthday buttons are round, about 3 inches in diameter. They are free at the guest relations offices of all the theme parks and may also be found at your resort's concierge desk or some regular ticket sales windows. Until recently, each of the four theme parks had their own version of the birthday button, so it was possible to collect four different ones. But this has been consolidated and there is now only one birthday button for all four parks.

Pins on the other hand, are available for purchase only. They are smaller than buttons, usually 1 to 2 inches in either dimension. They are colorful, enamel and metal, and come in nearly infinite shapes. The prices range from about $6.00 to about $15.00, depending on the complexity and novelty of the item. The pins are sold in every gift store on WDW property and at special pin kiosks at all the theme parks. There are pins created for every possible resort, event, attraction, and character. Often there are pins for sale in the shops that have some birthday message on them. The pins, not the buttons, are the items that people wear around their necks on lanyards in the parks. There is a big culture of pin trading in the parks. For more information on this, search on "pin trading" on the disneyworld.com site or this moms panel site.

    Hope this helps.
