Hello Heather!
Many years ago, I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for friends where one guest had never celebrated American Thanksgiving. He loved it and it put the holiday into perspective for me. As he said, this is the holiday where we simply focus on food, family, and friends. That comment has always stuck with me, and to this day, I try to make time with my family the focus of Thanksgiving.
I think
Liberty Tree Tavern is an outstanding choice for Thanksgiving Dinner. But I also have to agree, that if you are unable to make your reservation until exactly 60 days in advance, it is unlikely you will find availability. Liberty Tree Tavern serves the classic Thanksgiving-style supper every day of the year, but the food and atmosphere are perfect for that special family holiday.
If anyone in your party is staying at a
Disney Resort Collection Hotel, they can attempt to
book dining reservations 60 days before check-in, for the entire length of stay, up to 10 days. This perk is one of the advantages of staying at a Disney Resort. If someone checks in on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, for example, they would have the advantage of trying to book Thanksgiving 65 days in advance, and so Liberty Tree Tavern will likely be booked by Guests eligible for this perk. If you have this option, you should use it. You would likely have to book multiple tables of groups no larger than 6, as most locations aren’t booking large groups. You should also know that one Guest cannot hold two reservations at the same time. Whoever can book early should try to book a table, but designate a different person in the group as the reservation holder. This will allow them to try to book another table under their name. Hopefully, with this method, you could book more than one table.
If your entire party is staying off-site, you can still attempt to book Liberty Tree Tavern at the 60-day mark, but you should also have a list of several backup options. Other good ideas might be the
The Crystal Palace or
Be our Guest Restaurant which are both also located at Magic Kingdom. Or what about venturing out of the park for dinner? Have you considered the
Grand Floridian Cafe? Alternately, you may wish to put your focus on time together that day, rather than the perfect turkey dinner. Consider a quick-service meal as one big group, followed by experiencing a favorite attraction as a family! You can always cook a big turkey dinner upon your return home, as you reminisce about your magical Disney vacation.
Sending you pixie dust for that perfect reservation, Heather!
