Is it better to use preloaded Disney gift cards, or a credit/debit card. Do you get extra perks with the Disney gift cards?

    Hi Kelly,

    Thanks for joining us!

While there aren't any perks to using Disney Gift Cards at Walt Disney World Resort outside of the budgetary benefit of "pre-paying" for your vacation, there are some programs through large retailers that do result in a small cost savings when you purchase the gift cards. For example, Sam's Club offers a small discount on the purchase of Disney Gift Cards. If you purchase them at Target using a registered Target RedCard, you can save 5% off of the face value of the card. So there is a small way to stretch your vacation dollars.

A Disney Rewards Visa Card from Chase does have several perks! Depending on the card, you can earn a certain percentage back as Disney Dream Rewards Dollars, essentially a reloadable Gift Card accepted throughout the Disney brands. There are also exclusive Character encounters available only to cardholders at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Plus, I love the reactions whenever a cashier in my daily, non-Disney life checks out the adorable Mickey and Minnie design on my card. It's a little bit of Pixie Dust sprinkled throughout my routine. Also, there are special financing and other cost-saving offers when you book your Disney vacation using your Disney Rewards Visa Card. It is definitely worth a look!

Please come back and visit us if you have any other questions, Kelly!

    Wishing you many magical memories,
