What is the best way to get to and from the airport and Port canaveral and less costly? Also what is there to do in the port canaveral area post cruise if your fight is later

Welcome aboard, Stacey! You must have an exciting sailing coming up with Disney Cruise Line!

There are a few ways to travel between the airport and Port Canaveral, including car rental or private transportation companies, but I always recommend using Disney Cruise Line's ground transportation. Though this carries an additional cost of $35 per person each way, I promise that it is worth every single penny. Disney takes care of all of the details, making your transition from land to sea and back again incredibly easy and stress-free. And that is what we all want before and especially after our cruise, right? Guests that take advantage of this service also get to check their bags in at their home airport and not even see them again until arriving in your stateroom. Disney takes them from the airport to the ship and back again afterwards so you can simply send them off the ship and meet up with them at your home airport baggage carousel. It doesn't get easier than that! Give Disney Cruise Line a call to add this transportation to your reservation.

The only reason you might want to consider a different transportation option on the way home is because you mentioned your flight isn't until later. If it's in the evening, one popular option is to rent a car near the port, put your luggage in the trunk and head off to Downtown Disney for a few hours before driving to the airport. There are a few fun things to explore in the Port Canaveral area too, including the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Funntasia Fantasy Golf and Avocet Lagoon or Jetty Park. My family loves to get that little bit of extra Disney time in after the cruise, so we'd always choose to head to Downtown Disney before heading home if possible!

I hope those options help as you continue to plan for your sailing, Stacey. Please don't hesitate to stop back with other questions before you set sail! I'm happy to help!
