Hi Holly,
I'm really excited to hear that you and your Mouseketeers will be enjoying a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort together soon! My teenagers love our Disney adventures for the thrill rides, the chance to get away and just enjoy time with family, and perhaps their very favorite part...the
delicious food.
I'm happy to let you know that there are multiple options for larger families who would like to enjoy all of the
perks of staying at a Disney Resort hotel! You'll want to price out your vacation to see the
rates and availability for your specific travel dates, but you might actually find that staying at a Moderate Resort like Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort or the Alligator Bayou rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside with an additional pull-down bed is the best value, as long as you feel that your 11-year-old would feel comfortable in the pull-down bed. It's slightly smaller than a standard twin bed, and my 10-year-old loved sleeping in one earlier this year. She felt like she had found her own perfect spot! In a large family, that feeling can be rare!
Disney's Value Resorts are another great option for budget-conscious families. You could request two connecting rooms at
any of the Value Resorts, or look into a Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort or Disney's All-Star Music Resort. One great thing about the Family Suites is that with multiple sleeping areas, your family will be able to spread out a little more.
Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Holly, and please let us know if you have any other questions as you're planning your trip. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
Missy
