When is the best time for first timer to go and visit Walt Disney World?

Hi Katheryn!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

When is the best time to visit Walt Disney World Resort? ANYTIME!!  Truly, I have visited Walt Disney World at all times of the year and enjoyed each and every visit.  There are pros and cons when choosing any specific time of year, and what constitutes "best" for one particular guest is not the same for another.  Whatever time of year works best for your personal schedule is what will be best for you.

Now, if you have some flexibility in when you can choose to visit, I'll tell you what my personal preferences are and why.

Walt Disney World Resort tends to be busier when schools are not in session, such as during summer vacation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break or holiday weekends like Martin Luther King Jr. Day or Presidents' Day weekends.  If you have the option to travel at times that are not school breaks, you may find it less busy.  However, the upside to visiting during busier times is that park hours are usually longer.

Personally, I prefer to visit Walt Disney World during cooler months.  Florida is often hot, as in meltingly hot, during the summer and into early fall.  Some visits during the winter months I have experienced lovely weather; during others it was quite chilly, requiring coats and gloves.  While this does not bother me in the least, if that is not your idea of a tropical vacation, you may prefer a different time of year.

Another factor to consider are any special events that interest you, such as the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the fall, or the holiday season.  You may also want to keep your eye on the Special Offers page for any possible discounts at certain times of year.

All that being said, my personal preferences would be late January, early February, early May, November and December, avoiding any holiday weeks.

I hope that helps!  Please visit the Moms Panel again as you plan your visit.  We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
