When is the best time to take a cruise?

    Ahoy, Nicolia!

The best time to take a cruise varies from family to family. I would take a Disney Cruise Line vacation ANY time of the year without hesitation! Over the past six years, I have cruised with Disney Cruise Line in all months except April, May, and November. I have of course enjoyed every single cruise. Only one time did we experience weather that was so rough that the ship could not dock into Castaway Cay.

That being said, my favorite cruises have been in September and October, on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic. I love the "Halloween on the High Seas" decorations, and fall is often a more affordable time to sail. We had a blast dressing up on two nights on our cruises, Pirate Night and Halloween Night. The extra activities that were taking place around the ships were also wonderful.

Another great cruise was over New Year's on the Disney Magic. The holiday decorations were stellar, and counting down to midnight in the atrium, among fellow cruisers, in a sea of confetti, was a sight to behold! Our daughters said that was the best New Year's EVER!

So, really, it comes down to when is your family available to cruise? Are you looking for any particular ports to visit? Once you have answered these questions, visit the Disney Cruise Line website and start searching for the perfect cruise. And, please visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions as you begin planning your family's cruise vacation. We can help with things like which staterooms are the best and what port adventures might be right for your family.

I look forward to hearing from you again soon, Nicolia!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
