Where is the best resort/place to watch fireworks at Magic Kingdom on a non park day?

Hi Angie, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! The nighttime spectaculars are my favorite part of any Disney day. So I’d be happy to help you decide where to watch Magic Kingdom’s fireworks outside of the park!

My personal favorite spot is the beach near the main pool at the Polynesian Resort. While Cinderella Castle is further away compared to spots at the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary, you get a centered view of the show, and the accompanying music plays in the background. Just keep in mind that for certain holidays, like New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July, access to the beach can be exclusive for overnight guests of the Polynesian Resort.

For a closer view, head over to the Contemporary Resort, where you have a few different options. For something complimentary, there’s an observation deck off the fourth-floor lobby that’s open for fireworks viewing (and the music is piped in too!). Occasionally, this space may be closed for private events, so it’s always good to have a backup plan.

If you’d like to make an evening of it, you can book the Celebration at the Top - Sip, Savor, Sparkle cocktail party at the top of the resort. It includes delicious small bites, desserts, and drinks before heading to a private area to watch the show.

Alternatively, you could make a reservation for California Grill, which is one of the most unique viewing experiences since the restaurant dims the lights and plays the music when it’s ready for showtime! Even if you eat earlier in the night, you can come back before the fireworks and show your receipt to gain access to the restaurant’s viewing deck.

Before I go, I wanted to mention one other memorable way to see Happily Ever After outside of Magic Kingdom, which is with a Fireworks Cruise. Watching the show from the water is such an intimate experience and a great way to celebrate a special occasion.

I’m wishing you a magical visit to Disney World and hope you find the practically perfect spot to watch the fireworks! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
