What is the best place to eat at Animal Kingdom? My son is lactose intolerant. How can I find options for him?

    Hi John!

Thanks for asking another great question.   Your question has my tummy all rumbly like Winnie the Pooh,  I love food and especially all the delicious meal options at Walt Disney World.   I love to say calories don't count on vacation so that I can enjoy all my favorites without quilt.  It's my pleasure to help you out today.

Walt Disney World does a great job of accommodating Guests who have special dietary requests.  Most table-service locations and large quick-service dining spots will have an allergy-friendly menu or allergy guides available for the most common sensitivities including dairy.   Guests are also welcome to speak to the chef at each location and they can give you options on what you can order that would be safe to consume with your specific allergy.  If you plan on booking Advanced Dining Reservations please indicate the allergy in the reservation,  this will help the dining location plan for you.  If you can not add the allergy during the reservation please let the Cast Member know when you check in at the location.   The  allergy menus for quick-service locations are also online.    Click on the menu link of the chosen restaurant and scroll to the bottom of menu where you will see the allergy friendly menu items.   This is a great help to pick where you would like to dine while visiting.

John, some of my favorite spots at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park can accommodate your son's sensitivity.  Flame Tree Barbecue offers most of it's offerings on the dairy free menu, including the ribs and chicken combo which is amazing.   Satu'li Canteen (my favorite quick-service location) offers dairy free options as well.   The chopped wood-grilled chicken bowl is not only delicious but milk-allergy friendly.   If you are looking for table-service dining both Tusker House Restaurant and Yak & Yeti Restaurant have allergy guides available to help you order safely.

As you can see, you won't be lacking for options.  Be sure to wash everything down with a frozen work of art that just happens to be dairy free as well, the Dole Whip which is available at Tamu Tamu Refreshments.    You won't regret the decision.  Enjoy your visit and please let us know how we can be of assistance in the future.
