Hey Richard, thanks for visiting planDisney again!
With so many announcements for Walt Disney World's future, I can understand wanting to check on your favorite attractions. Just as
Walt Disney said, “Keep moving forward,” Disney Parks and destinations are
moving forward with some really exciting changes! All announcements are subject to change, but there are a few places you can check refurbishment dates.
You can visit the
Hours & Events Calendar on the Walt Disney World website to see current closures. This calendar only shows up to 60 days out, so you won’t be able to check for your summer vacation until a few months from now. You’ll also find refurbishment announcements on the pages of specific attractions. I looked through the site and noted which attractions have upcoming closures. As I stated earlier, the dates listed at the time I’m writing this answer are subject to change.
Magic Kingdom:
Astro Orbiter- closing January 13, 2025, and reopening summer 2025
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad- closing January 6, 2025 until 2026
The Hall of Presidents- closing January 20, 2025, expected to reopen later in 2025
EPCOT:
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros- closing January 6, 2025, and expected to reopen on March 15, 2025
Test Track- currently closed, reopening in summer 2025
Animal Kingdom:
Kali River Rapids- closing January 6, 2025, and expected to reopen March 2025
TriceraTop Spin - closing permanently on January 13, 2025, for the
Tropical Americas addition coming to Animal Kingdom in 2027.
No official closures at Hollywood Studios were listed on the Disney World website. However, we know from previous announcements on the Disney Parks Blog that changes are coming!
The Muppets are taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Muppet*Vision 3D will be closing to make room for a new Monsters, Inc. attraction!
Disney Parks Blog has posted information about
new offerings coming to the theme parks in 2025, like the new Magic Kingdom nighttime parade, “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” and the Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After show coming to Hollywood Studios.
Oh boy, Richard, that was a lot of information! Your vacation is still several months away so keep checking the Hours & Events Calendar and the Disney Parks Blog for announcements. It’s always a magical time to visit Disney World, and we’re here at planDisney to answer any other planning questions you have!
There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Kaitlin
