Hi Deb!
The Family Suites at
Disney’s All Star Music Resort are a great choice for larger families, or those who enjoy a bit more space and privacy. While we are Disney Vacation Club Members, sometimes we like to take an inexpensive late-night flight in, and will spend a single night in a Family Suite before transferring to our next resort.
I have four kiddos and I am all about having the door between myself and the kids. The
Family Suites have a separate master bedroom, and yes, a door that closes! There are two full bathrooms and a kitchenette as well. In the living area, you’ll find a full-size sleeper sofa, a sleeper chair and an ottoman that magically opens up to become an additional bed! In terms of size, these rooms were created out of two standard rooms, and are approximately 520 square feet. For grandparents and one grandchild, I think there would be plenty of room for everyone.
There are also Family Suites at
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. If your granddaughter loves Disney movies, this resort has larger than life decor and suites themed after
Cars,
The Lion King and
Finding Nemo! These rooms are larger at approximately 565 square feet, have a separate bedroom, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette. There is also a pull-out couch and a pull-down Murphy bed for additional Guests.
If having a separate bedroom isn’t essential, you may consider one of the
Royal Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. If your granddaughter is a princess at heart, she may love the elaborate theme of these rooms! I also recommend a Deluxe Studio at
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. These studios offer a split bathroom to make getting ready easier, you would be close to the Magic Kingdom or a short walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center to hop on the
Monorail to Epcot!
I hope one of these options sounds like it would work for you, and I hope you have a truly magical visit with your granddaughter!
