What is the best way to get from Epcot to Hollywood Studios? Traveling with a six year old, how long is the walk? ferry ride? Would it be easier/quicker to drive from parking lot to parking lot? Planning on when to leave Epcot to see Fantasmic show.

The walk from Epcot to Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) is about a mile and a half. I probably wouldn't do it with a six-year-old at the end of a long theme-park day.

The best way to get to DHS from Epcot depends a bit on where in Epcot you happen to be. If you are in the Future World side of Epcot, you should exit the park on that end, by the Spaceship Earth "golf ball." From there, you can catch a bus to DHS.

If you are in the World Showcase side of Epcot, you should exit the park at the International Gateway, which is located between the England and France pavilions. Just outside this exit there is a boat launch for a water shuttle that will take you to DHS. The bus trip takes about 15 minutes. The boat trip takes about 20 minutes, but in my opinion this is much more pleasant than the bus.

As for driving, if you factor in the time it would take to get from Epcot to your car, the drive to DHS, parking, and walking to the DHS entrance, the total amount of time using Disney transportation is probably slightly less than using your car.

If you are planning to attend an early showing of Fantasmic, you should be aware that people often start lining up more than an hour in advance. I would leave Epcot at least an hour and a half before the Fantasmic show to ensure that you get a seat.

    Have a great trip!
