Hiya, Melody! Welcome to planDisney!
It sounds like you were successful with your 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend registration. Congratulations! It’s definitely competitive getting a bib for this
runDisney event in particular. I registered this morning as well, so I will also be at
Walt Disney World Resort next January!
When it comes to the Disney Resorts Collection, you really have so many great options to choose from. One thing all Disney Resorts have in common is that they provide transportation to and from each race. I stayed at Disney’s Pop Century Resort for the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and it was a breeze getting to and from the races. Plus, resorts will also add a little extra magic to the weekend. Coming off the bus each day, Cast Members had a table set out with water bottles and bananas, and the front desk had celebration buttons for each race distance. It was such a welcome sight to come back to!
In terms of the best resorts, you really can’t go wrong. Depending on your budget, the EPCOT area resorts such as Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are very close to EPCOT. As of this writing,
runDisney races start and finish at EPCOT. These are Deluxe Resorts and the price will reflect that.
I really appreciate having access to the
Disney Skyliner. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort all have Disney Skyliner access. Art of Animation and Pop Century are Value Resorts, Caribbean Beach is a Moderate Resort, and Riviera is a Deluxe Resort, so you have different price points there.
Another personal favorite of mine is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, specifically the Gran Destino Tower rooms. It’s a Moderate Resort, but the tower definitely feels deluxe. Plus, there are so many great dining options there.
Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Villa del Lago is my absolute favorite. It’s in a beautiful setting, literally at the intersection of three bridges on the Lago Dorado lagoon.
You can find a full list of the
Disney Resorts Collection hotels on the Walt Disney World website. Each link has a detailed description of the specific resort, which may help you in making your decision.
Long story short, you really can’t go wrong! I’ve yet to find a Disney Resort I didn’t love, and given that each will get you to where you need to be, I’m confident you’ll be happy with wherever you choose to stay.
I hope this helps, Melody! If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your visit, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at
planDisney. We’re always happy to help!
See you real soon!
