Which is the best Disney resort for grandma (61YO) babysitting a 1 year old who will mainly be staying at the resort vs visiting the parks? The 1 year old is able to walk and LOVES water!

Welcome to planDisney, Brittany! I'm sure you're just as excited as can be about visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth with your granddaughter in 2025! I'd love to share a few suggestions on where to stay (and play!) on your trip. I'd also encourage you to take a look at the planDisney Resort Pocket Guides as you finalize your resort selection!

    • Value Resort Pick: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
This value resort offers three large pools, including the Big Blue Pool, the largest single pool on property at the Walt Disney World Resort! Your granddaughter will also have a blast splashing around Schoolyard Sprayground, a fun splash pad area inspired by Finding Nemo! The theming of this resort will delight your one-year-old granddaughter as she is surrounded by animated classics like The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Cars, and Finding Nemo. There's plenty to see and do as you wander around each area of the resort, and you can also hop aboard the Disney Skyliner for a change of scenery and to easily connect to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios if you do decide to visit any of the theme parks during your vacation! This resort also offers family suites, which offer a little extra space for your party to spread out and for those midday naps for your granddaughter (or both of you!)
    • Moderate Resort Pick: Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter
While I have a soft spot for this resort because of my New Orleans roots, it's an ideal location for a stay with your granddaughter for a few reasons: it boasts a fun splash pad and Mardi Gras-themed pool area and also gives you access to another pool area at its sister resort, Port Orleans Resort - Riverside! Because it is the smallest of the moderate-level resorts, it's easy to get around! One of my favorite features of this resort is that it's situated on the Sassagoula River, where you can take a riverboat over to Disney Springs for some additional shopping and dining options! And one last tip about this resort: the Mickey-shaped beignets at Scat Cat's Club - Cafe are a can't-miss treat!
    • Deluxe Resort Pick: Disney's Contemporary Resort This deluxe resort is also home to a fun pool and splash pad area, but most appealing is its proximity and walking path that connects you directly to Magic Kingdom Park. Even if you don't plan to visit the park itself, you'll be able to view the fireworks from your resort hotel, ride the Disney Monorail (an adventure in itself!), and dine with your favorite characters at Chef Mickey's inside the resort!
Brittany, no matter which resort you choose, as a guest at a Disney Resort hotel in 2025, don't forget to take advantage of the complimentary water park admission on your check-in day! If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your vacation, come on back to planDisney anytime!

    See you real soon,
